Why you shouldn’t believe the hype

Have you ever seen a new super-food and thought: “Wow, this sounds too good to be true.” Well, not to burst your bubble or anything. If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Bummer! I know. Everything would be so much easier if you could pop a pill and your excess weight would just melt off your body. Yeah, not gonna happen. Shortcuts don’t work when it comes to a healthy lifestyle.

Luckily, there are a few things you can do to avoid falling into the trap of quick and easy fixes. Building healthy habits is one of those things. Committing to healthy habits may seem daunting at first. The good news is you don’t have to transform your life all at once. Start simple.

A first step might be to add more healthy foods to your diet. You don’t have to change your diet completely. Just adding more healthy foods to your daily routine will help you to build those healthy habits.

  • Leafy greens. Leafy greens such as arugula and spinach are high in nitrates. A diet rich in nitrates is healthy for your blood. Add spinach to a pasta recipe or, if you’re feeling adventurous, try a green smoothie! Did you know that beetroot is also high in nitrates? Maybe beetroot juice is something you like. • Garlic. Garlic is a fantastic way to add flavor to your food. (Don’t forget to brush your teeth afterward!) Flavor your food with garlic and other spices instead of salt. Your heart will thank you. If you want to learn more about the benefits of garlic, click here.

Don’t believe the hype. Instead, commit to healthy habits. You’ll benefit from a healthy lifestyle for the rest of your life.
